Job Security vs Financial Freedom
I'll be blunt…
If you're the type of person who likes to be told what to do, when to do it, and you're willing to put control of most of your life in the hands of another, then stay in your job. Building a home based business is not for you.
But let's talk about job security… it's a joke. Your future depends on someone who doesn't have your best interest at heart, and you have very little control over your life – you are almost entirely at the mercy of someone else.
In a job you are told how much money you can make, when to come to work, when to take a break, when to eat lunch, when to go home, when you get a pay raise, and whether or not you get to keep your job.
As a 'benefit' of a job you're allowed a week or two for vacation, and if you're lucky, you can enroll in a group health insurance plan. Of course, you pay a hefty percentage out of your own pocket for it. And, if you lose your job, bye-bye health insurance.
In some jobs, you're also given the 'opportunity' to invest a portion of your hard-earned money in a 401(k) or mutual funds, ostensibly to give you future financial security. Problem is, 401(k)s and mutual funds carry risk, and you have no control over them.
Do you want to bet your life on the ups and downs of the stock market? We're talking about your retirement here — what if the stock market crashes after you retire? That kind of investing isn't safe and it isn't smart.
Social security is another big joke. It won't be there to take care of you when you retire. Don't count on medicare, either. Healthcare is the largest expense we face as we age, but medicare only covers a portion of medical expenses.
Bottom line… don't expect the government to take care of you. It won't be there for you. The cold, hard reality is that if you have money you will live — if you don't have money, you may die.
